Badminton Geniuses!

Last week Room 12 were taught some badminton skills in the hall.

We started with a warm up game of tag which was awesome, before getting
a balloon and balancing it on our hand - this was a bit tricky...

We had to balance the balloon on the racket and walk around. If the balloon fell onto the ground then we had to stop and do 5 star jumps before starting up again. This was pretty funny!

Indie concentrating on balancing her balloon.

Fabulous balancing girls!

Sophie doing her star jumps - great work Sophie!

 Awesome work!

Michelle concentrating hard...

We had so much fun!

Meanie Monsters!

Room 12 has been reading the book 'The Meanies', so on Friday we made some mean, mad Meanie Monsters out of playdough.

Look how creative and awesome they look!

We wrote a story to go along with our Meanie Monsters,
so pop in and have a read.

Grandparents reading in Room 12

The Room 12 learners were so lucky to have some Grandparents come in and read to us after our Book Character parade today.
We loved listening to them!

Indie's Nana came along and read '101 Dalmatians' story to us. We really enjoyed listening to the story and hoped that the Dalmatians would be ok!

Josephine's Gran came to read to us as well. She read us a really nice story about a bird that kept all the animals awake at night until one night they did the same back to the bird. Then he realised that nighttime was best for sleeping and stopped making the noise!

Book Character Parade

Book Character Parade

Room 12 learners looked awesome in our book character costumes - a lot of thought and effort had gone in to some of them.

What a fantastic end to our Literacy Week!

Waiting patiently for our turn in the book character parade.

Don't we look great!!!

Cartooning with Stu Duval

Today Stu Duval taught us how to draw cartoons starting with just a simple letter or number.

We started this drawing of a cat with an X.
Watch what happens...!

Look at us draw! We were very focused on our drawing.

This is what the cheeky cat looked like when Stu had finished.

We did some amazing drawings!
Well done Room 12.

At the end of the session, we picked our favourite drawing and held it up.
We were very proud!

The very hungry caterpillars of Room 12!

Literacy week

The Very Hungry Caterpillars of Room 12...

We have been reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

We have learn't about how caterpillars start from an egg, turn into a caterpillar and after eating LOTS of food, (Yum!) turn into a beautiful butterfly!

We made these awesome 'caterpillar crowns' to wear and we're rubbing our tummies because we are hungry!

Don't we look fantastic!

Stu Duval visits Sunnyhills

For Literacy week, Author and Illustrator Stu Duval came to visit us
at Sunnyhills school.

He told us a really funny story that had the whole audience captured (even the teachers!) and taught us how to draw some cartoons using numbers and letters. How clever!!

We learn't a song to go along with this drawing:
S, two dots, a prickle and a line!

I'm sure some of the parents at home were even taught this song!

Elvis was drawn starting with the number 12!

This was the Five-o-saurus!
Can you guess what number was used to start this drawing?!

Stu told us an amazing story about a Pirate who traveled the world on his boat looking for new puddings and fell in love with Lamington Lil. It was a really funny and exciting story.

Thank you for coming to visit us Stu we loved having you!
