Making bread!

As part of our Inquiry, Room 12 has been looking at Technology
and comparing old and new technology and how it makes our life easier.

We looked at modern ovens vs fire stove-tops from the olden days, and how people used to light a fire to cook their food and heat their water.
Then we looked at our modern ovens and how we just push a button
and it starts to heat up!

So...we decided to use some modern technology to make some bread
using a modern-day Bread-maker.

We used Flour, oil, water, sugar, salt and yeast.

We measured the ingredients into the Bread-maker one-by-one.

Then we pushed the start button and waited...

The smell from the bread went all through the corridors.

3 hours later...look what we made! Yum!

Then came the best part of making bread. Eating bread!

Mrs Nelson cut the loaf of bread up and put some butter on it.

The butter melted on the warm bread and we licked our lips.

Jeremy and Leona were very excited to try the bread!

We learn't that we are very lucky to have the technology that we have in our home,
that it is helpful and makes our lives a lot easier.

We also learn't that Room 12 REALLY likes fresh bread!!

Granddad's Teddy Bear

Last week Molly bought in her Granddad's childhood Teddy Bear.

He was very old and worn with a wobbly head and he had patches of fur missing from being loved and cuddled so much!

We also learn't that Granddad's teddy bear was filled with straw
and not the soft stuffing that our soft toys are filled with because they didn't have the technology back in the olden days.

Thanks for bringing your Granddad's teddy Bear in to Room 12 Molly!

Planting our Little Garden flowers

Today Room 12 planted a variety of Little Garden flowers.

We each chose a random coloured Little Garden seed set and set about planting them into their paper pots.

Here we are soaking our 'soil pods' in the water.

Edward gently holding onto his seeds and Jacob carefully opening
his seed packet.

Dia carefully placing her seeds in her paper cup.

Molly gently placing her seeds in her pot whilst Indi reads her label.
What are you growing Indi?

Indie watering her little seed garden.

Sophie opening her seeds - I wonder what they will be?!
Jeremy gently holding his seeds.

Wyatt keenly reading his seed packet.

Cooper looking to see what was in his Little Garden and Samuel opening his little seed garden.

Cecilia very carefully planting her seeds.

Andy doing a great job planting his seeds.

We can't wait to see what we grow and plant them outside our classroom.

We have some talented young gardeners and 'green thumbed students' in
Room 12. Check back for more updates!!

Badminton Geniuses!

Last week Room 12 were taught some badminton skills in the hall.

We started with a warm up game of tag which was awesome, before getting
a balloon and balancing it on our hand - this was a bit tricky...

We had to balance the balloon on the racket and walk around. If the balloon fell onto the ground then we had to stop and do 5 star jumps before starting up again. This was pretty funny!

Indie concentrating on balancing her balloon.

Fabulous balancing girls!

Sophie doing her star jumps - great work Sophie!

 Awesome work!

Michelle concentrating hard...

We had so much fun!
